Tim and Tobe each has their own production facility; Tim’s focuses more on tables, chairs and TV stands, while Tobe’s focuses on beds, dressers and sideboards. Each facility will handcraft furniture pieces from solid oak, maple, wormy maple and cherry. Construction won’t begin until your order has been received. Customers choose the wood, stain, hardware and other elements that make your furniture unique. At a time when most furniture is mass produced overseas, it’s nice to know quality still exists much closer to home!
High Quality Finishes
Handstone offers three different texture options on furniture crafted from wormy maple. The Heritage finish features random hand-planed surfaces and offers a more rustic feel. It’s great for bedroom collections such as the Rafters, Chattanooga and Algoma that have industrial accents. Second is the Brushwork finish, in which wormy maple is wire brushed before finishing giving it a unique texture that will look smooth from a distance. Contemporary dining collections such as the Contempo, Verona, and Laguna look great in this finish. Finally, just added in 2023 is the Sawmill texture which leaves the natural sawmarks from the lumbermill with limited sanding. It's truly a one-of-a-kind option as the roughness and marks will in each piece. Smooth textures are applied to oak, maple and cherry furniture. Handstone is passionate about the consistency of their colours and a quality finish. For this reason, they do not allow switching stains between woods or allow colour matching.
